The Future

November 1, 2011 § Leave a comment

So this is a rather late start to NaNoBloPoMo, but I’ll just barely squeeze it in time!

The title of this blog comes from this quote by  John Dos Passos that I had squirreled away in my Evernote folders:

“A novel is a commodity that fulfills a certain need; people need to buy daydreams like they need to buy ice cream or aspirin or gin. They even need to buy a pinch of intellectual catnip now and then to liven up their thoughts….”

While I imagine that this blog will be primarily food related, I have always been an avid reader and writer. I’m even doing NaNoWriMo this month too, even though maybe it’s too high an aspiration to imagine that I’ll finish both.

What I thought was interesting about the quote was how Dos Passos lists gin as a necessity of life!

Tomorrow, we will explore the mysteries of kefir.

Hopefully my painting will improve, the color is all washed out.
